SYNOPSIS
A lion cub crown prince is tricked by a treacherous uncle into thinking he caused his father’s death and flees into exile in despair, only to learn in adulthood his identity and his responsibilities. This is a 3D/live-action reimagining of the 1994 animated classic.
This film was announced in 2016, following the tremendous success of director Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book retelling. The star-studded cast assembled throughout 2017, before production started that summer.
After scoring the original animated movie, Hans Zimmer returns to compose the music and Elton John’s music will also be incorporated. The new Lion King is said to feature four songs from the animated version, including «The Circle of Life» and «Hakuna Matata».
